Ava Hillier received a B.A.
from Queens University in 1974, an LL.B. from Osgoode
Hall Law School in 1978 and was called to the Ontario
Bar in 1980.
Ava has dedicated most of her legal career to
representing individuals who have suffered injuries, and
the families of those suffering fatal injuries, as a
result of motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls and other
negligent torts.
Ava has represented Plaintiffs suffering the most
serious of injuries, including traumatic brain injuries,
spinal cord injuries and serious orthopaedic injuries.
She has been lead counsel on a number of precedent
setting jury trials and has authored numerous papers for
the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Trial Lawyers
Association, The Law Society of Upper Canada and The
Canadian Institute.
She has acted as a presenter and lecturer for The
Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, The Advocates'
Society, The Medico-Legal Society, the Ontario Bar
Association, Osgoode Hall Law School, Queen's Law
School, Quicklaw, The Canadian Bar Association, and the
AAJA.
Ava is a founding Member and Director and a past Vice
President of The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, and
a current Member of the Board of Directors of The
Advocates' Society and a current member of other legal
organizations related to trial advocacy and personal
injury practice in Canada and the United States.
